Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Grid Connect solar power system?
Grid Solar systems connect directly to your electricity supplier. This means that the homeowner can either use the clean energy generated or credit it to the electricity supplier.
What is feed in tariff?
When you credit the electricity to the electricity supplier, you receive a feed in tariff credits for generating clean energy back to the Grid. The net feed in tariff allows the homeowner to credit the excess electricity (after consumption) back whereas the gross feed in tariff allows you to credit all the energy created to the Grid. The gross feed in tariff is more beneficial to the homeowner and this system is used in NSW. The current agreement is 60c per kW of power generated.
What affects the amount of solar energy received?
There are a range of factors that determine the efficiency of the solar panel. It depends on the time of the year, the orientation, and the angle of the panel, and the type of the system installed. An expert consultant will be able to maximise the output with the right system and set up.
What are RECs (renewable energy credits)?
RECs are an electronic form of currency created upon the installation of a small renewable generator system. They are purchased by coal fired power stations to meet their carbon emission trading targets. This provides a discount to the homeowner by selling off their energy credits.
Property resale value?
The solar system is an asset to the home and it should create additional value to your home.
